Soap Making Questions and Answers

I have made quite a few batches of soap using vegetables oils but have a recurring problem. When I cut my soap after 24 hrs as it starts to dry I notice pinprick size bits in the soap. In use this is no problem and isn't visible but initially looks unsightly. I think it may be due to my soap setting within 5 mins of adding the caustic soda mixture. Both oil and soda mixture temps are approx 105 degrees and I stir briskly using a ballon whisk. My initial attempts at soapmaking were poor. I couldn't get a trace and have since added 1/4 tsp grapefruit extract to each batch to help the mixture get to trace. Do you think that I should try omitting this? Is the fact that I get trace too easily my problem ? Answer this question
