Product Development Designer

This position will be to establish a Design Centre to introduce and embed computerised and procedural design systems and processes to achieve cost reduction, modularisation, improved aesthetic appearance, improved brand values and reduce new product introduction lead times to meet strategic objectives through:

External market research to create and implement a marketing strategy and to inform brand direction

Select and introduce a CAD modelling system and surface modelling system.

Develop a robust new product design, development and introduction procedure.

Designing parts of the product for “manufacturability”.

Develop a design process to improve aesthetics to maximise customer appeal, create a brand identity and launch new products to market.

Embedding design processes and CAD and surface modelling operation into the company.

Design and develop a corporate image to promote the SURE brand with a view to international recognition.

You will have a degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Design Management or similar (min. 2:1) Applicants should have knowledge/experience of new product design & development. Good presentation skills, including oral and written communications are essential. It would be advantageous to have experience of working in a commercial environment and a knowledge brand values in company development.

Sure24 Ltd. has identified a need to develop an in-house design centre within its sister company SURE Technology www.suretechnology.net to enable the introduction and embedding of a systematic design process which will speed up the introduction of new products in the marketplace to retain and improve their competitive position. The company is seeking a recent graduate as Product Development Designer in collaboration with De Montfort University through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme.

Chemical Hazard Assessors

An enthusiastic and adaptable individual is required to augment a team of scientists engaged in the assessment of the hazardous properties of chemicals used by the oil and gas industry. The post will involve active discussion with the chemical supply industry to ensure that sufficient quality assured data is provided to enable a full hazard assessment of their products. It will also involve the compilation, analysis and reporting of selected data to regulatory bodies to inform progress on the substitution of hazardous substances. The post will be an integral part of a vibrant team that is in the process of relocating to Lowestoft and will be extremely rewarding for someone with an interest in environmental risk and protection.

· Daily contact with Chemical suppliers to discuss data requirements for product registration

· Regular review of chemical and physicochemical properties of substances in the context of hazard assessment

· Regular assessment and preparation of guidance documents for internal use and for the website

· Compilation of chemical use figures and contributions to the work-up and reporting of the data

· Providing advice (by mail or in meetings) to the supply industry and regulators on the substitution of hazardous substances.

This is a key supportive role reporting to the Senior Administration Officer within the trust administration team that involves seven people and four on a totally dedicated basis. Liaising with appropriate external contacts as necessary, the successful applicant will be required to ensure the smooth operation of the volume of many of our day-to-day trust administration-systems.

Primary responsibilities include:

Requesting and chasing documentation required in accordance with our diary note system;

dealing with queries, checking documents received and where necessary seeking amendments;

Procuring due execution of documents and releases of security, certificates of non crystallisation and proxies/consents, dealing with Land Registry forms and other matters.

Management and operation of a sophisticated record-keeping and storage system for original/electronic documents where a rapid access is essential.
