As IT Technician you will report to the Systems Manager and be responsible for:
o Undertaking routine maintenance
o Resolving and troubleshooting complex technical issues
o Assisting with backups and virus checks
o Supporting both teaching and non-teaching colleagues.
As IT Technician you will have/be:
o Well versed in Windows and Microsoft Office and McAfee, Sophos or Norton anti-virus
o Have a proven track record working with computers, networks, printers and peripherals
o A strong interest in ICT as a learning tool
o Exposure to a Windows environment
o A Microsoft MCSE qualification would be advantageous but not essential.

Assistant Chemical Hazard Assessor
CEFAS East of England An enthusiastic and adaptable individual is required to join a team of scientists engaged in the assessment of the hazardous properties of chemicals used by the oil and gas industry. The post will involve liaison with the chemical supply industry to ensure that sufficient quality assured data is provided to enable a full hazard assessment of their products. It will also involve the transfer and maintenance of information to the central database and the generation of reports. The posts will be an integral part of a vibrant team and will be extremely rewarding for those with an interest in environmental risk and protection. This position will be primarily desk based. Main duties will include but will not be restricted to:
· Contact with chemical suppliers to ensure that data requirements for product registration are met
· Initial pre-review of physicochemical properties and biological effects data of substances in the context of hazard assessment
· Compilation of chemical use figures and contributions to the work-up and reporting of the data
· Responsibility for the input and data quality of information to the team database

We are currently looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at Southampton Science Park, Chilworth, to play an active role in the development and design of our world leading Satellite Modem product range.
Reporting to the Group Engineering Manager, Southampton, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, planning, writing, debugging and documenting embedded software.
A proven capability using C/C++ programming languages within a LINUX/UNIX operating environment is essential, with competency in Python, Perl, Javascript and Coldfire assembler being desirable. Knowledge of Satellite Communications would also be advantageous as would a relevant degree
The chosen candidate will also need to strive to ensure that the current processes and operations are performed in accordance with our established ISO 9001 approved quality system and that the appropriate records are maintained.
People management skills and a high level of Time Management and Organisational capabilities are also essential as is the ability to be self motivated and to use initiative.
Candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a larger, multi-disciplined team.
